Services We Provide
The Computing Support Team (COHHELP) provides computing and technology services to administrators, staff, faculty, and GATs in the College of Humanities. Our goal is to provide and maintain a safe and secure computing environment for our users while providing multi-platform support for College computer systems.
Our services include (but are not limited to):
- Providing users access to fast, reliable network servers for file storage, backups, network printing, and authentication.
- Desktop system and software installation and configuration.
- Professional software and hardware support in-person or via telephone, email, or remote assistance.
- Review, recommendation, and purchasing of computing technologies.
- Upholding the security policies and procedures set forth by the University.
Support for laptops and home PCs:
- If you are a faculty or staff member who uses a University computer or laptop off-campus, we will do our best to assist you with technical support via phone or remote connection. If this is not possible or convenient, you may be asked to drop it off for service. Please make an appointment with us before delivering a system for repair.
- Any service requests for off-campus systems should be accompanied with appropriate documentation (e.g. copies of the off-campus release agreement, A-tag numbers, receipts for software purchases, etc.)
- If you prefer to tackle laptop issues yourself and feel comfortable, please refer to our laptop assistance page for guidance.
We are unable to do some things:
- We do not pay for computers or printers for departments or individuals since departments are responsible for purchasing equipment for their faculty and staff members. We will lend assistance or make recommendations for departments if they need help purchasing or choosing.
- We do not decide who gets what or where it is to be placed. This is up to the individuals and their departments. We abide by a user's wishes unless it poses a safety or functionality concern.
- We do not provide support for equipment in classrooms or for any personal property that was not purchased with University funds (to be considered University property it must have either a COH-tag, A-tag, or N-tag). OSCR is the best on-campus resource for personal equipment.
- We do not install or troubleshoot unsupported or personal software titles. Additionally, we do not install or condone unlicensed or improperly-licensed software. For a list of supported software titles, see the FAQ page.
